Kimisitu DT Sacco traces its roots back to 1985, when a visionary group of 10 staff members from ICRAF (International Centre for Research in Agroforestry) came together with a shared dream — to create a financial institution that would empower its members through savings and affordable credit. In line with ICRAF’s core mandate in Agroforestry research, the name KIMISITU was coined, an acronym derived from Swahili words, Kilimo na Misitu.

Aiming for a paperless office, Kimisitu has leveraged the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to minimize the manual handling and printing of hard copy documents, while enhancing the access and retrieval of both customer and Sacco documents. This transformation has significantly improved customer data protection, document sharing, access, and cost management related to printing, leading to greater operational efficiency. The integration of EDMS reflects Kimisitu's dedication to utilizing technology to enhance member services and achieve operational excellence.

Automated Loan Application & Membership Registration

Kimisitu DT Sacco has streamlined its services with automated loan application and membership registration processes, offering a seamless experience for its members. Prospective members can easily complete their membership application online via the Sacco's website, from the comfort of their homes. Once registered, members can take advantage of the self-service member portal to submit loan applications, eliminating the need for physical paperwork. This automation enhances convenience, efficiency, and accessibility, ensuring a smooth and modern experience for all members throughout their engagement with the Sacco.
