LVNWWDA Holds An Introductory Meeting With Nandi County Officials.

Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency led by the Chairman Board of Directors Hon. Julius Bakasa Wasike, HSC is undertaking Governors visits to its Counties of jurisdiction (Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga and Nandi) to discus the progress of its projects with respective Governors and County officials.

On 13/12/2022, a team comprising of the Chairman Board of Directors Hon. Julius Bakasa Wasike, HSC, CPA Anthony Kisaka who represented the Agency’s CEO, Eng. George Odedeh, Eng.Dickson Opiyo, Mr. Tom Musungu and Madam Jackline Wanjala held a consultative meeting with Nandi County top government officials. The discussions were geared towards the establishment of sustainable water projects in the County.

Hon Bakasa while taking the officers through established, on-going projects and those on planning stage undertaken by LVNWWDA in Nandi County affirmed that LVNWWDA will work together with the County Government of Nandi to ensure residents have access to clean safe water and proper sanitation services. “Our mandate is to undertake development, maintenance and management of water and sanitation infrastructure within our area of jurisdiction on behalf of the National Government, thus it is important we cooperate with the counties to ensure proper service delivery,” he said. Moreover, he called upon County governments who take over the water Projects to do proper maintenance and follow up of the projects so as to realize maximum productivity.

Representing Nandi County Governor, The County Secretary Dr. Francis Sang acknowledged that the projects done by LVNWWDA are fairly distributed and excellently done. “Our Governor is very supportive to the work that you’re undertaking and we appreciate efforts done by National Government through LVNWWDA in setting up sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure. Our main challenge is energy cost; thus, I beseech you to help us reduce this through establishing gravity and solar systems,” he said

The teams agreed to collaborate and cooperate in opportunities to reduce challenges appertaining to water and sanitation through; public participation and community mobilization, solving issues concerning land acquisition, capacity building, provision of advisory services and resource mobilization. The CS urged LVNWWDA to prioritize sanitation during their planning, since there is not enough capacity of sewer lines in the county.
